WooCommerce is constantly working to offer a flawless experience to both the users and the store owners. The latest release 3.2 is aimed at improving the experience for the store admins. Following were the basis for this update:
The version 3.2 is a minor release and would also be compatible with the previous versions (3.0 and 3.1.)
Coupons For Discounts
Using coupons to apply discounts to the orders was one of the most awaited feature store owners wanted on their stores. 3.2 updates the store cart and coupon system to integrate this function.
now you can simply edit an order by clicking the “apply coupon” button, inserting a coupon code and all the calculations will be done automatically, no need to go through the hassle of manual calculations.
Extensions Update Warnings
No need to worry about the compatibility issues with the new versions of extensions. The new version runs additional checks prior to the final update on your plugin screens. If there is an extension that has not been tested for a specific version a warning message will be displayed on your screen. This will allow you to either disable the update or test it for compatibility with your store.
This will ensure that the store owners can update worry free and plugin developers are also more considerate about the compatibility of their extensions with various versions.
Improved Extensions Management
Now, it’s easier to manage your extensions. A store owner can easily filter out the extensions that are active on the store.
After a store has been connected to the WooCommerce.com account, a notification will appear in the sidebar of the panel, notifying about any new update available for the active extensions.
Additionally, the WooCommerce.com now also allows sharing subscriptions with clients (great for multi-site subscriptions). This will allow both developers and agencies to share their subscriptions without connecting their personal WooCommerce.com account.
A Better “Products” Shortcode
The products shortcode in 3.2 has been consolidated into a single products shortcode that supports all options of the traditional product shortcodes. This will arm your store with many features including the ones mentioned below:
Developers now can directly refer to the helpers for products powered by CRUD system, instead of sending a direct enquiry.
3.2 has stronger debugging tools. Critical errors will be logged in a file that can be accessed by viewing the file: System Status>Logs
WooCommerce 3.2 gives a lot of reasons to adopt it. However, before you go and give it a shot, it is better you review the documentation on how to update. Further, make sure you have taken a back up of all your important store data. You can also connect with someone expert on WooCommerce to see if you should really update to 3.2.
